Featuring our very own 'Professor Zac' the Arrows are a squad of 16 teenagers including four of the original players who first met at the age 5. With an inclusive ethos, the Arrows are coached using the principles of England DNA that we are now seeing be so successful with the National Team. Playing out from the back never fails to add to the excitement for the loyal followers of the Medway District Youth League.
Anchorians develops players, coaches and referees and has grown rapidly, with over 75 teams including Boys, Girls, Mens, Womens, Disability and Veterans. Anchorians sports club is also home to Rugby and Hockey teams and now houses the latest community led 3G all weather pitch. "Anchorians is a real grass roots club, where the ethos is about enjoyment and participation. There are no trials or any form of selection. It just tries to give everyone who turns up a chance to play".
Clubs like this rely on the support of local business and on the vast army of volunteers to provide sport for children from many backgrounds. The family feel is something that S&R work hard to achieve throughout the company and we all wish the team the very best for the new season.
Leon, the team manager had this to say about the team;
"This will be my seventh season coaching the Arrows, but it seems to have gone in the blink of an eye. We started with just 7 players, and four of the originals are still with us and are very much the core of the team. It has been very rewarding to see how much they have improved as players and matured as individuals".
"After the disruption of covid, we are very much in a rebuilding phase this season. We have five players starting their first season with us, and three of them had not previously played team football. It will be a challenge, but all the players have shown a great attitude to learning, and I'm confident we will get stronger and stronger as the season goes on ".
