James Gardner hosts IoD's first 8:59am meeting...

Friday 13th September saw James Gardner, Managing Director of Sinclair & Rush UK host the first 8:59 Breakfast for the Institute of Directors in Maidstone, Kent.

The purpose of the breakfasts is to enable people to share and lead their business better with the ethos being the events focus much more on mind sharing than regular networking. The events are attended by local company directors to share leadership tips.

The topic for this event was ‘What does it take to become an amazing leader?’. Throughout the event, James focused on the attendee's past experiences of working for amazing leaders, the traits they have taken from those leaders and how they have implemented these into the work they complete every day to build a positive and highly functional working environment for their employees.

‘What one word would you use to describe amazing leadership?’ was a question asked during the event which produced different answers from every attendee. This was fantastic as it provided multiple different opinions and views; opening up a conversation at the event around what fantastic leadership looks like and what can be done to improve and build on various leadership skills.

Royston Starling, Direct Line Group, speaking after the event said, ‘A very interesting part of the session for me was the answer to the question (above), I think each person gave a different answer and I had to agree with them all! I thoroughly enjoyed the morning and took a lot from the brilliant participation from the group so thank you, all.’
