Sixpence Industries Ltd is a small, family-run British business with a passion for creating practical, well-engineered tools. Their latest product, the Rail Stay, is an innovative clamping system designed for use with carpenter’s guide rails. It provides a smart solution for tradespeople working with sheet materials in upright or confined spaces.

As a product designed and manufactured in the UK, Sixpence Industries was keen to partner with a like-minded UK packaging supplier. The packaging for the Rail Stay had to meet several critical criteria: it needed to be strong enough for individual shipping, easy to assemble, and compact for storage. The clamshells met all of these needs, stacking neatly to reduce warehouse footprint while offering excellent product protection.

From a retail perspective, Sixpence Industries required packaging that allowed the clamps to be fully visible to customers without the need for additional dunnage or inserts. After trialling several options, Sinclair & Rush recommended a clamshell design that securely housed both clamps and displayed them clearly. The packaging could also be supplied with or without a retail hook, giving the client flexibility across sales channels.

An added benefit was the ease with which customers could interact with the product—opening the pack to inspect the clamps without damaging the overall presentation. This provided a tactile experience ideal for the hardware and tools retail sector.
